Mihail Bulgakov, Majstor i Margarita
Almost like all of the genius things, the pizza margherita was born out of poverty and great troubles. One hundred and thirty years ago, a terrible cholera epidemic ruled the south of Italy. In order to support their people, the Italian King Umberto I di Savoia and his wife Queen Margherita, while walking through the streets of Naples, they tried a favorite national dish.In honor of these important guests, pizza was made in the colors of the flag. The tomato, mozzarella and basil on the thin dough was very much to Her Royal Highness's liking. A humble dish has been given a royal name. A legend was born.
Italians would say that a true master in the kitchen is the one who has mastered the art of coping (l'arte di arrangiarsi). This secret art is best expressed when a gastronomic masterpiece is made from a few simple ingredients of top quality. We decided to try just that - to make magic through persistent experimentation, from simple ingredients, with the help of love. The recipe is simple: only the best.
What is probably the greatest gastronomic similarity between Serbia and Italy is the cult of family gathering around the table. Our restaurant was born out of the love of two families for good food.We like to get together, with the children, for lunch or dinner. We also love guests.Every good artisan chooses to associate with other good artisans. Our friends and partners are winemakers from the Pusula winery, brewers from the Gwint brewery and cafe owners from Java Coffee. All true masters of their craft.
